I'm really struggling with my optics choice. I own 8x42 Ultravids, non HD. I'm thinking about going to a 10x42. If I do I am looking at Meostar HDs. Am I splitting hairs? Is this a mistake? Are they even in the same class?

They are in the same class.

The ultravids are very, very good binoculars.

If you really want 10x bins, sure go for the Meostar HDs, they are excellent.

If the 8s are serving well just keep them.

the best solution, IMO, is to keep the Leicas AND get the Meoptas.

Go to Cabelas and ask them to look at their Euro HD's. Take them outside and compare them with your current bins......see if it something you want to change to.

Test some 10x's winded. I bought a pair this summer and found them almost worthless for chasing deer up and down hills for me they were to hard to steady while chasing deer. I know not everybody has that problem but its worth a thought.
