Lightweight pillow case product?

So I've never found any use for the dedicated backpacking pillows. They just seem to be extra weight and space for something that I can easily replace with what I'm already carrying. I usually just stuff my Klymit V seat and my puffy into the pillow pocket of my bag and that's worked ok, but being a side sleeper I don't really like having my pillow fixed to my bag either. If I had a lightweight pillow case of sorts to put the puffy and V seat in I think I'd have my solution. I thought of using my sleeping bag's stuff sack but the buckles would get in the way and not be comfortable.

Before I have my wife custom make something, I thought I'd put it out there any see if any of you guys know of any products out there that already check this box I haven't considered. Seems silly to put so much thought into a pillow, but when you're in the field for multiple days at a time there's something to be said for a higher quality of sleep.

HMG makes a 1.5 oz. water resistant, reversible, DCF stuff sack pillow. I pack my entire sleep system (sometimes this includes a small spike shelter), into mine. It's made of waterproof DCF material, then can be turned inside out, and has microfleece on one side.

I've got some neck issues so my method is one of the lightweight Sea to Summit pillows plus the stuffsack with a light jacket in it.

Awesome. I searched for backpacking pillow case and the only thing that came back was a thermarest branded one. It is 2 oz and $12 and has pretty good reviews. Not sure saving the extra quarter of an ounce would justify paying four times as much for one of the other ones but it’s good to know they’re out there if this thing flops. I think if I hate that one I’ll probably give the zpacks one a shot. Thanks for the responses all.

Another HMG user. I put my puffy jacket in mine. You can fill it with any clothing and even has a fleece side, can be turned inside out, etc... Some people think it’s too pricey, but it’s very well made and bombproof ... AND ... made in the USA!!!

I really like the fact that I can carry my entire sleep system inside, and although it’s not waterproof, it’s water resistant enough that everything inside stays bone dry, short of totally submersing it in water.

Shelter, bivy or ground cloth, pad, and quilt all inside a nice light package, that doubles as a pillow.

Shelter, bivy or ground cloth, pad, and quilt all inside a nice light package, that doubles as a pillow.

I use a buff as stuff sack and a piece of shock cord tied through it and around my sleep pad to keep it in place. It’ll hold my puffy and extra clothes depending on how firm I want it.

So I received the Therm-a-rest pillow case the other day and it should work out just fine. It weights 2.3 ounces and has a nice plush (not fleece) texture and an overlapping enclosure as opposed to a zipper. It definitely doesn't double as a waterproof stuff sack and I can see how that would be a very attractive option with a quilt setup like troutbums. I may go that route in the future, but at $12 delivered, this looks like it will be pretty comfortable with minimal added weight.

I use a Kifaru XL ultralight pullout with some clothing or one of my coats in it. The pullout weighs absolutely nothing and takes up no space. Works great as far as a packing pillow.

I haven't seen those before. Simple idea though...that makes sense. I like it. Ive carried the inflatable pillow which is about 4 oz I think. Save a couple ounces and don't have to blow it up....nice!
