What is everyone using for a lightweight sling for sheep hunting? And what is the weight of some of the lighter ones?

Agree on the 550 paracord DIY version. Curious if you have looked at any gun sling options that integrate with your pack..

Not handy but I do happen to have a link to the page I more or less used for instructions:

...there are some easily found YouTube instructionals on the topic too. I bought the needed sling swivel mounts and my local big box..

I make my own using these https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2403860152 with some 1" webbing and a 1" ladderlock https://milspecmonkey.com/store/hardware-diy/996-itw-gt-ruck-1inch-ladderloc.html

I havnt found anything lighter to date.

I did exactly the same 3-4 years ago, and yeah, haven't yet found anything lighter.

Frankly, though, the sling swivels are annoying. The screws tend to loosen often, and the knurled screw heads catch on things a lot. The screws also rust. I've been meaning to replace them with some longer stainless cap screws and add a small locknut.

I do not even use the hardware. I just loop the cord though the sling studs and melt it off. I always found the sling swivels would clink, squeak, jingle or bump into something. Simple trilobite weave works great. Have run a few on rifles for over five years now without a failure.

Also a nice long backup piece of cord should you need it. I cut mine off and put it to use on a drag once. Missed the sling on the pack out but was with that hassle.

I was able to pick up several of the Butler Creek mountain slings on sale a year or so ago after a recommendation from someone on this site.

I bought an all rubber sling at a gunshow a while back, can't recall the name - cut it in 3 equal pcs and sewed 1" webbing on each end for the quick attach. & adjustability - about as simple and lightweight as it gets and haven't given up on little bit of comfort or function carrying - easy peasy …...

Kifaru Gun Bearer on your pack, no stinking sling needed.

I run the gunbearer too, like to have the rifle hands free without the pack for a variety of reasons. I tried the para cord and it cut into my neck too much. The nylon sling attachments and a sewn 1 inch piece of webbing is about is light as I could come up with. Been using for for years with success.

550 with a simple slip knot braid where its sits on your shoulder....I found that set up more than adequate for a Kimber MA. As above I stopped using slings at all (5 or 6 years ago) after I fitted a Kifaru Gunbearer.

I took apart a cheap binocular chest holder. Ran The elastic webbing through the swivel and sewn up so it was snug to rifle, can be pulled/stretched to fit over me. Super happy with it last 4 years.
