If our rights are that rock solid then why are we having this same conversation every couple of weeks?

I do believe our 2A rights are solid for at least the next generation.

Are your 2a rights solid in New York, Washington DC, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon, California....?

I laughed out loud when I read his post

Amen, and it looks like that support may grow much stronger in the near term... : ) Except of course for people like me who live in California, whose rights have been really obliterated. Bill

"In fact, Obama’s tenure has brought more money to state wildlife agencies than any other president and more than twice that of President George W. Bush. “The last four years are significantly higher than any other years in history,” in terms of supplying the fund, says Gavin Shire, chief of public affairs for the FWS. “And all years between 2008 and 2016, except 2010, appear to be higher than all years prior to 2008.”

Some clarity from Randy Newburg

“ I've been out hiking the Arizona Coues mountains, so connection is limited.

This entire effort by the Federalist stems from the Montana Senate race of Tester v. Rosendale. All the other stuff is brought up as fodder. The core concern is that public land issues are grabbing high priority and election outcomes are showing that.

Note that it was announced last summer that Chernin group had made a significant investment in Meateater. Wasn't a problem or concern until such time as the RNC picked the worst candidate in the entire primary and tried to make him Senator. It didn't work, so rather than evaluate the problem with message/messenger, the idea is to take a shot across the bow of a very influential voice in the public land debate; the Meateater group.

The tactic is to tie anyone/any platform that is effective in messaging as some sort of Democratic operative. Rather than put pressure on Republican candidates and party leaders to open their eyes to the power of the public land message, the decision has been made to go after groups that are advocating public lands.

Complete bull shit. I've know Steve from back in his days of producing Wild Within. He's a smart guy, as are the folks running his operation. To imply he is somehow anti-2A is more bull shit. He's made many statements of his support of the 2A.

The bigger issue is whether or not public land hunters are going to be sucked in by pieces such as that put out by the Federalist. If so, we are in deep chit.

The reality is, Matt Rosendale was a terrible candidate. He lost, in large part due to his terrible public land positions. Future elections in some states with heavy public land interest will have similar outcomes. Some folks don't like that and they are willing to paint some pretty crazy stories to try prevent future elections being influenced by public land issues and public land advocates. I say, "Bring it on" and see how far that gets them in the long game that is politics and policy.”

its really warming to know that issues like 20 week abortions and public lands are equal standing.

How far this country has fallen.

What’s worse is this attitude. You can’t say you disagree/agree with an opinion someone has because if you disagree/agree with one thing then you obviously disagree/agree with every opinion that person has. You know what has fallen in this country? It’s the attitude that one side is more righteous than the other and the group think, if you not with us your against us mentality. It’s coming from both sides and it will divide us even farther.

Jon tester supports 20 week abortions. That’s a 5 month old fetus. The little child is a full human being and can survive outside the womb.

Public land hunting is recreation.

You are not on my side if you think Barbaric 20 week abortions are okay, and doubly so if you want garnish my wages to support such atrocities.

Word. My twin boys showed up at 26 weeks, they're almost 3 now and healthy as can be. To think people are ok with late term abortions sickens me, literally.

Who knows maybe Rinella knows what he's doing and will stay true to his colors like El Pres and barstool sports (who were also bought by chernin). I just wish he wouldn't have brought on the hunting collective philosopher.

Man I’m starting to lose respect for those supposedly leading the charge for public lands, they obviously have blinded themselves into being one issue voters.

Truthfully if Tester won purely do to his public lands stance, that is sickening and shows how our society truly is a society of sheep. I like to think people actually research candidates for their entire record.

Once we become a third world country public lands won’t matter to our grandchildren anyway.

I’m very much pro public lands but I get the sense some put it above all other issues facing our country.

My daughter received chemo and radiation in-utero due to her mom's cancer, and my late wife died after she was born. We left it in God's hands, (yes, we believe in God) and we were overwhlemed with thanksgiving to not have aborted her when she was born healthy....the doctors pleaded with us to abort the child--said she wouldn't survive mom's treatments! She's six feet tall now, and model gorgeous.

Back to the topic...
We're already divided. And how much so is, frankly terrifying. And it's painfully obvious why. Liberalism and socialism is everywhere, and even here as an outdoor forum. And notice I didn't say Republican or Democrat; they both suck.

I largely share Ndbowhunter's thinking.
Yes, this is a hunting forum but these issues go far beyond hunting, guns and "public land" whether one wants to accept that fact or not.

Frankly I don't give a sh t about Meateater, never have. But what I do care about is seeing any leftist org that inherently LOATHES hunting, guns, killing of game, etc. acquire a company that trafficked in those great American pastimes. There will be compromises made (at best) and they will be dripping with Progressive ideals. Some of you guys don't care about that, maybe even welcome it!....that's the straight up truth!
How many here loathe AR-15s and the like? I'd pay to know the truth....

How does one juxtapose liberalism/socialism with hunting, 2nd A, Black guns....traditional American ideals? Try hunting in Germany some time. Ancient history!

Many at this forum have no problem with socialistic ideals and honestly that shocks the hell outta me. I've said it before, it's demographics and upbringing.

Am I the only one that is scratching their head trying to figure out how being pro public lands now means you are pro 20 week abortions?

I would also be interested in knowing who these individuals are that have socialist opinions or are pro socialism on this forum? I have read and participated in most of the threads like this and this gets posted many times but I have yet to see anyone post a pro socialist comment.

uh... not sure I can make it any more plain then this.

Jon tester is a Democrat in the state of Montana that recently won a US senate seat.

Randy Newburg says the Tester stance on public lands was the reason he won the race.

Jon tester has openly voted support for 20 week abortions.

Therefore a vote for Jon tester is a vote for murdering a 5 month old fetus.

One of the main planks of socialism is a woman’s right to do what she wants to her fetus.. up to and including crushing her 5 month fetus skull. Well she won’t do it, my government allocated tax dollars will pay someone else to do it.

The first time he came on the Joe Rogan experience back in 2011/12 (hard to remember) I figured he’d sell out. Surprised it took this long.

Guess you and I must be reading different posts because I have yet to see a single person advocating for Tester. Merely all that has been said about him is an opinion on why he won the race.

The fact is that the progressives have adapted to the fact that using social media and alternative media sources is a great way to control the narrative....I find it interesting that so many people just eat up these podcasts. Probably because listening to someone is a lot easier than actually communicating with someone.

Interesting times we live in ...that's for sure

2a has nothing to do with sport, recreation, etc. it is pretty explicitly there to insure that a citizen can arm him/herself effectively as an infantryman against the forces of a government that has b come overbearing.

Rinella is an entertainer. his in laws own a publishing company. The guy is a cooking show host, and an author. I’m confident that his company’s primary mission is reaching an audience that is as extensive as possible.
To that end I can understand why he may personally want to avoid much in the way of political/social commentary/posturing- as any of that is more likely to alienate a potential new audience than to draw new audience.

I am unclear on the official MeatEater position on late term abortion and birth control in general - I anticipate it’ll stay that way, I doubt we will get any clarification from the new ownership. Can you imagine the uproar if Steve cooked an elk fetus from a shoulder season cow??? “Typically we break an elk down with the gutless methods, but on these late season cows, if you don’t gut them, you end up leaving behind the crown jewel- the most delicate morsel you’ll get all year!”
