I've seen conflicting reports on what the reticle actually looks like for the Z-plus RD. Meopta website shows an open square box whereas people have posted PDFs that show a solid circle for the center. I emailed them yesterday about what it actually looks like and they sent me this PDF. This shows an open circle and they state in the description it is 1 MOA, but over on the dimensions they declare it to be 1.5 MOA. No idea which one is correct, but relieved to know it is open and not solid at least.

I have the 3-18x56 FFP with Z-plus RD and it is a solid dot.

Well crap, that completely differs from their website and what they told me, but not surprising since all their documentation seems to contradict. How long have you had the Optika 6 and how do you like the reticle in a FFP. I'm looking at the 3-18x50 FFP version, but also tempted by the 4.5-27 Dichrotech 4d SFP too.

I received the scope at the end of December, but have only had it out a couple of times. I was looking at both 3-18x56 FFP and 4.5-27x50 SFP but made the decision on the 3-18 because 4.5-27 was a lot of scope for the 6.5 Creedmoor it was going on. Since zero stop wasn't offered in the 3-18 SFP I went with the FFP. It's my first FFP and I really like the fact that it gets very small on the lower powers.

I'm not sure where you got the PDF of the reticle, but Erik Muller from Meopta sent me this one and that is exactly what the Z-plus RD looks like.

Just got back from comparing the SWFA 3-9x42 to the new Optika6 3-18x56 FFP In low light...the Meopta is going back. 1 of us felt the SWFA was at worst as good as the Meopta at last light with both on 9x looking at deer and a tree line at 350 yards from 20-40 minutes after sunset, with myself and one of the others thinking the SWFA was brighter. All 3 of agreed the reticle in the SWFA was easier to see. Just going to leave good enough alone, though I am now tempted to take a look at a SWFA 5-20x50.

Thanks for the info. My pdf came from Jan Pavelka the online Marketing Specialist for Meopta. Based on your filename I'm guessing that mine is an old pdf and they changed the reticle design last June. It's funny because neither of the PDFs match up with the Meopta website.

Any pics of the z plus reticle yet? I'm in the same boat as many others. Love almost everything about the optika..... except the dang reticles

I cannot get a good picture through this scope. I have tried using my phone, a point and shoot camera, and a dslr camera. I can't do it. I'm open to suggestions.

If it is on full power, try cranking it down to like 12x. If you still can't get it with a phone, I'm out of suggestions. Thanks though!

Several people have asked how this scope is doing, so here is a brief update.

Due a variety of reasons, one being that I have been working with other scopes, this one has only had around 1,400’ish rounds on it so far. It has been used a lot and beat up, just not shot very much. Last week it did put the first shot a bit over 2 mils low, however I was shooting through grass and the next 9 were good. Can not be 100% sure either way, but we’ll know soon enough if it’s the scope. Other than that- so far, so good.

To this point it has had approximately-

1). 1,400 rounds of 223, 6.5 CM, 308, and 300 mag.

2). 20,000 vehicles miles not in a case.

3). 200 miles on mountain FS roads in trucks, ATV’s, bikes.

4). 250 or so miles strapped to a pack.

5). Shot in 85 degrees to negative 14 degrees weather, with multiple snow storms.

6). Fallen off two 12-14ft cliffs.

Quite a few more people have shot it, most had the same thoughts about the reticle as I did.

These still seem impossible to find with the best reticle.....the one tested

Speaking with a few retailers, there seems to have been this idea that a high power, FFP exposed turreted BDC/MOA/duplex reticle scope will sell more than an mil one...? Most people haven’t caught on to the reality that people that actually buy new scopes (or anything) are mostly shooters. Shooters use FFP, mil/mil scopes by and large. I certainly can’t speak for very many retailers, but the couple I have spoke to have sold something like 6 to 1, MRAD versus any of the others.

@Formidilosus

Any update after more beating and hunting? I’m sure you‘re out in the field at the moment. More curious than anything else.

Glad to hear that. Would be nice to have another option that’s reliable. Need another 50-100 guys put theirs through some use instead of safe to patio for pictures and 1 box of ammo per year through them.

Yes. Unfortunately most like to talk shooting more than do it. Even when they do, they baby their stuff. The one I have has done well, but the issues I brought up are still there and as a result even though it’s available, it doesn’t get shot and used all that often.

A person on another board who’s use I would put weight on, had a 1-6x fail. So we’re at 50/50 with the ones that I would would find credible in use.

I saw he received his replacement. He will separate the wheat from the chaff.
