Mid may hells canyon Idaho bear

Good evening,

Planning a bear hunt for middle of may in hell’s canyon unit 18 Idaho. I’ve elk hunted it in the past and have seen bears, but fall is very different than spring . Just curious what the snow line would be at that time and if the Boise 101 trail would be accessible at that time. I’d love to hear if anyone has been on that trail around that time of year. Was just in the canyon two days ago up by Hells Canyon Dam. The snow was only at the very top of the canyon in places. Two months from now, I'll bet it will be only in the shade.

Last year you couldn’t make it to the trailhead when bear season was open unless you had a tracked machine.
