Just wanted to share some photos of a recent 3 day, 2 night solo backpacking trip to use a little bit of new gear for the 2021 season. I did a good portion of segment 24 of the Colorado Trail. Weather wasn’t great, couple showers each day, but made it through more or less dry. I started at Molas Pass and made my way to Hunchback pass over the course of two rainy days, then on day 3 went from Hunchback pass, to the peak, then all the way back out to Molas pass which I have routed to be a little over 18 miles and 4800-5k vertical feet. It took some time and a lot of food but I was amazed at my bodies ability to keep running by just “putting gas in the tank” (electrolytes and calories). I though I was done multiple times and would eat and keep pushing. I’ve never hiked anywhere near 18 miles in a day, and I know that is nothing to some guys, but it was good for my mindset going into the season as my camp/hunting area is 3-6 miles from the truck. Pack weight was 25ish pounds and felt great (as one would expect.) Cant wait to run this LBO in rifle season with the stove. I really wanted to run the Kifaru sheep tarp with the borah bivy for all the lightweight bonus points, but with all the weather I was happy to have the space for only a pound or so weight penalty with the LBO.

Lessons learned:
1)Keep face completely in the bug net area of the bivy to keep condensation from occurring inside the bivy
2) I knew this, but ran into a slight problem on an established dirt campsite, but when you go floorless, site selection is everything! Had a little water wanting to run in one side of the tent, I remedied it by guying out the panel on that side up to a tree to shed water around to other parts of the tent with a better slope and had no issues.
3) Steve at exo is constantly talking about not having the hip straps too tight, and mine on one side was way too tight (from me messing with it). Loosened it about halfway through day one and the hotspot under the belt disappeared. User error… who would have guessed lol.
