modifying cuffs on jacket

I have a Kuiu Rubicon jacket that has sleeve cuffs that are a bit too narrow for my hands to get through comfortably. I'm wondering what modification might be made to give them a wider opening? Possibly a triangle-shaped piece of stretchable fabric to open it up a bit. Has anyone done this, or have any suggestions?

Thats what came to my mind before i finished reading your post.

However, on high end gear i lean towards selling and finding another piece that i like better. Resale market is strong.
