Anyone purchase this tag before? Unit wide region 5 cow tag 'only valid on private land and portions of public as defined in each HD.' However I'm not seeing any public land defined in any of the unit 5 HDs. I will be based out of Big Timber during this time. Is there much block management in the area allowing access to elk or would I be better of getting a refund?

I've never had the tag before. I would venture to guess the "except those portions as described..." means there are certain areas of some districts the tag won't work in. If you look up 590 for example, you can't use the tag south of the Yellowstone river. If memory serves me correct (which is always iffy) but I think there were quite a few BMA's in Region 5, particularly on Highways 12 and 3, as well as around Abarokee.

As to returning the tag or not, I probably wouldn't since it's only a $20 tag (assuming your a resident) and I'd personally rather have an extra tag and eat it, than not have one and wish you did.

I know that's not a allot of help, but hopefully some.
