I've had this bolt action target rifle since 1969, the original owner and that may have been the last time it was shot. Peep sights and a detachable mag. Has some small marks on the stock but in pretty good condition.
There is some debate about the years of production and transition from the Mossberg 144 LSA and the variant that includes our specimen of the 144 LSB. Production on the latter ended, we are told, in 1985. Early specimens are known to exist, however, from the mid to late 1960s, and that age range meshes with what we know of this one’s origins, from its FFL store front Louisiana owner who operated in St. Tammany Parish during the 1960s. All 144s, of course, descend from the highly prized 144 US, one of the training rifles that worked in tandem with the legendary 1903 Springfield Series during World War II. Barrel is 26 inch Heavy, wide slotted beavertail match stock with original factory permanent swivels; Globe front sight and aperture receiver sight. Weight empty is 8 pound vicinity, and the original blue steel magazine holds 7 rounds of .22 Long Rifle caliber ammunition. $395 plus $40 shipping in the lower 48.
