Mountain rifle - short barrel for suppressor, medium range distances

It is threaded 5/8 24. #5 was the smallest barrel that I could thread my can on directly @ 18”.

keep in mind balance when building a rifle to run suppressed. You want the rifle to feel very light on the muzzle end, so when you hang a pound of titanium on it, it will have a nice balance.

How did a short heavily fluted #5 end up comparing weight wise to a factory barrel?

I've contemplated going the same way, but dang... I'm muzzle heavy enough as is, so don't want to add any more out there than I have too.

I think the net barrel weight was similar to the factory barrel weight. For me it has a near perfect balance with a 16oz can.

if going custom or high end factory, a carbon barrel is a great choice as well.
