Moving to NC

Discovered a couple of weeks back that I'll be relocating from Belgium to NC. Did a little recon and purchased a place near Southern Pines (central NC). I've never lived in the state so lack info on hunting etc there. I'm an avid whitetail, turkey, and small game hunter (archery and rifle) - do an annual western hunt - and would really like to get into bear hunting in NC. Any tips, advice, regions to check out etc. will be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone in the area would like to meet up at some point that'd be swell too (day of fishing perhaps?). I'll be in NC in early June.

There is a lot of public land available in NC. Interactive Map. You can find the public lands at the previous link or order the map book from the Wildlife Resource Commission website. For bear hunting, people are more successful on the coast vice Western NC.
