MT Bear hunt

hey everyone,

First time bear hunting heading out with 4 other friends was thinking of heading out the first week of the season was wondering if that's to early?? Do we need to push the trip back a few weeks and get in to may? Couple of the guys went out checking access and there is still a lot of snow couldn't make it to the camping area. got stuck a lot! gonna hunt 580 area do you think the access can change in 3 weeks and be able to get up in the camping areas?

580 has had a good bit of snow this year. With the 10 day weather, I doubt in 3 weeks it's going to change enough for you to want to be out here. If possible, I'd definitely push it back until sometime in May. Overall, we've had a pretty mild winter compared to the last 3 winters, so I'm guessing that by May, bears will be out. Hope this helps.

Opening day is too early, I'd wait until around May 10th. It's more about green grass than snowpack, IMO.

I would agree with the advice above, I bear hunt region 5 each spring and have never had any luck before May. I was out this weekend scouting and there is still alot of snow.
