Mule deer near fires

Anyone here dealt with an active fire in their unit before? I still have a few weeks until the archery opener in Colorado, but this Glenwood fire is growing very fast. So far it is south and East of most of the unit, but who knows where it will go.

Has anyone hunted within proximity to an active fire, what do the deer do? I’d think even if it goes out tomorrow it will affect the deer within a 5-10 mile radius? Anyone have a similar experience they have dealt with in the past that could lend some insight for my planning? Much appreciated!

Ha, I was on the Kaibab last month while the Mangum Fire was going.......one of the best bucks I saw was in the new burn area eating ash.....some was still smoldering. It shouldn’t affect it much...Hunt the fringes

I had the same experience as above on a rifle hunt the deer were eating the ash. There was still hot spots and smoking nearby. i wouldnt sweat it unless its burning hot and nuking the ground
