I have a few good hunts lined up this year and I'm planning to post about all of them here in this thread. Hit the watch button if you want to follow along.

Last weekend I took a buddy on his first backpack hunt for bear.

We had a great time and got really close to getting him a great bear but it fed into the brush as we closed the distance and then the clouds rolled in and we had zero visibility.

I leave in a few days to help my brother on a high country mule deer hunt.

Doing some final packing tonight and will be hitting the road tomorrow to meet my brother for his mule deer hunt.

I pack each day's food separately to make things easy. I'm at 24oz of food per day including a freeze-dried meal for dinner.

Good luck! Good food is a must on an intense hunt! I always look at it like there aren't many comforts on a tough hunt, but good food and good sleep are super important to keep going hard every day.

We've seen a few bucks but nothing big so far. Seems like the numbers are pretty low compared to normal.

After hiking and glassing our butts off and seeing hardly any deer, we decided to call it and save our vacation time for our next hunts. We expected lower than normal deer numbers due to winter kill, but it was even worse than we expected.

Bummer man. That’s why we call it hunting and not shooting…
