Shot my biggest buck to date this year after an awesome but extremely tough year. Got him late morning on Wisconsin gun season opener. Still hunted my way in to check a trail camera and I saw him before he saw me. Didn’t score high, but he is definitely a mature buck. Had a pretty gnarly old wound which I assume is what caused his left side deformation

Thanks again guys. I hope everyone else had an awesome season as well! I know it’s not just about the kill, but this one meant a lot to me

Congrats on an awesome Buck you got there, sounds like a great hunt too. Was the old wound on the opposite side of his deformed horn?

I've always heard that when a wound is on one side of the buck the opposite sides horn will be deformed?

Thank you! And as far as I know I believe the wound affecting the opposite side of the rack is more common with hind leg injuries. I could be wrong, but that is what I’ve heard while doing research.
This bucks wound was on his back, dead center between the front shoulders. It actually looks like it was a puncture wound from another bucks rack at some point. The wound was atleast a year old, I think it was more like two years old. He also had a more recent cracked hoof. Must have been a brawler. Or just never learned his lesson lol
