Just wondering now that some ppl have had the pack a little longer what their thoughts are on it. I'm planning on purchasing the Beartooth 80 as my first "real" load hauling pack and am curious as to what some of the more experienced hunters think about it. Personally I'm looking for a pack that can pull off multiple functions. I do a fair amount of backpack hiking in the off season as well with my family and kids where I end up taking more of the communal load and my older Arcteryx bora 80 is on its last legs. I'm also hoping tho that this beartooth will be able to compress down enough to be a useful daypack (either with the lid on or off).

The fact that mystery ranch doesn't sell "bag only" versions of any of their bigger bags makes me feel that I'm better off to buy the Beartooth first and then if it doesn't work as the daypack I was hoping for that I can at least buy the Pintler or Mule bag only to fill that role.

Anyways any help, advice, or pictures about this pack and its daypack capabilities would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton.

Used mine this weekend as a day pack while out scouting. Took the lid off and cinched it down nicely.

Awesome. Glad to hear it works for that. You wouldn't happen to have a photo of what it looks like all cinched down by chance. I can't find any nearby to go see for myself.

I went with the Sawtooth over the Beartooth, way too baggy for 90% of my needs.

Unless you truly need more space consistently the bigger bags are really overkill.

Here you go. I got mine to possibly replace my Pop Up 28 as a tree stand pack, believe it or not. This bag will:
-provide better access to my gear while in the stand via the top pouches, and by positioning the 270 degree zipper at the bottom of its range (see pic)
-I can hang the bag by its frame using a hook strapped to the tree
-allow me to carry my climber even more comfortably
-have a wider frame that will make hauling out small deer quarters easily...
All while providing the capacity for long backpacking trips, and heavy winter layers.

Awesome. thanks for the pics. It definitely looks like it compresses down quite a lot. I think I'm pretty much sold, now I just have to wait for them to come back in stock ;)

Damn, I just saw this. I can try to get a pic tonight with some gear loaded in it. The pics above are pretty solid though.

The more pics the better. I'd love to see what it looks like with some items in it as well with the lid on or off. I'm just hoping I can get away with just using the Beartooth pack for the longer trips as well as just going out for the day without the pack being super floppy or looking baggy. If its a huge pain tho I would probably just purchase the Pintler to go with although I'd rather spend that money on actually hunting. Thanks for all the help though. I greatly appreciate it. It sucks that I can't see the pack in person to actually play around with it a bit to get a feel for it.

I have it - I think it’s pretty daypackable . The only thing you’ll notice is it’s a lot of straps and fabric . I gotta run downstairs quick I’ll try to grab a few pictures .

It’s 800 more cubes than the metcalf - so an 8x10 inch square more fits in it and the metcalf is supposed to be a great daypack . To me if I have a 2200 cube day pack and I’m 5 miles in and kill something but my packs full of water layers optics tripod kill kit then what good is it ? I’d rather have the option to haul half a animal and water optics tripod gun layers out with the animal in the pack .

Awesome pics. I'm sold. Now I just need to order one when they are available. I've had some nice backpacking packs before, but this will definitely be the nicest hunting pack i've ever owned. Can't wait to get one. Thanks for everyones help.
