Hey guys. I'm probably going to hit MNF for a solo backpack bear hunt this weekend. Never archery hunted bears though, and I'm curious if any of you could fill me in on what elevations and foliage types I should focus on? Naturally I was going to hunt way up high (6,000+ ft.), but I figured I'd try to get some opinions just in case. Also, how far off the roads in the MNF do you have to get before bears become abundant? I have no problem going a long way, but in the area I'm thinking about, it seems tough to even get a couple/few miles from a road without closing in on another one (per Google Earth).

Thanks!

I usually try to find out locations of berry patches or abondoned orchards before I go...or location of dumpsters. Primary way to find bears when hunting with dogs in that location is cut a track along roads. If there area any farmers that have vinyards or crops in the area that can also concentrate bears in areas.

hope this helps.
