A distant relative of mine owns multiple ranches in western North Dakota and has enrolled one of them into ND's PLOTS (Private Land Open to Sportsmen) program. 22,000 acres! While I am slightly bummed about no longer having access to private property, this is a great opportunity for DIY, public land hunters that congregate here at Rokslide.

ND's mule deer population has decreased substantially over the last few years from disease, habitat loss (oil) and a dramatic increase in human population and activity (oil again). Rifle tags have gone down as well. I know many residents that have been unsuccessful for 5+ years. Nonresidents are 10+ years. Archery tags are still over the counter for residents and nonresidents. With a lot of walking and a lot of patience, I think a trophy mule deer is possible on this previously private ranch.
Shoot me a message if you have any questions on ND hunting!
