I recently bought a 60's model R700 7mm mag barreled action from a member here. I believe the barrel that's on it is of a heavier contour than the one remington currently uses. Unfortunately, the stock I was planning on dropping it into is a newer cdl model with a simms pad. The action just won't quite squeeze into the stock. I don't think it will take much to get it in there, but I'm not good with wood at all. So my question is do any of you guys know of a gunsmith who is good with modifying wood stocks? I thought of just getting a synthetic, but nearly all my rifles are black, and since the new action is high luster blued, I kind of want to just use the wood stock. I live in Texas but don't mind sending it to somebody if they're really good. Let me know who you guys use.
