I ordered a Thunder Beast bipod today, pretty excited for that.

I think I’ve settled on the ATACR F1 4-20x50. The biggest thing holding me back was the weight but I’ve got an SHV on this gun right now and it weighs close to the same as the ATACR so I will likely end up ordering one at some point.
Why’d you go with the thunder beast over the others on the market? I’ve been doing some looking and would like to hear your thoughts.

This was the wrong thread to open.

I’ve a Tikka that I was planning to build into a 7SAUM. But the APR Altitude seems like a great value.

The benefit of doing this is that when you're done, you'll have two guns instead of one. Can't give APR enough praise, will definitely do business with them again.

I have a buddy who has both Atlas and TBAC bipods, the quality of the TBAC is next level. It was only a difference in price of about $75. I picked up some leg extensions, too. I like that its a toolless operation to add leg extensions or change out feet. If I end up running a stock pack I can just keep the leg extensions in there and add them in about 10 seconds.

The TBAC bipod came in today, I ordered the extended legs as well. I will take better pictures at the range this weekend. Initial takeaways are all positive, it’s not light but lighter than I expected for how bulletproof it feels. I will provide more insight on it as I go with it.

The weight difference between the SHV or NX8 vs. the ATACR is between 5 and 7 ounces depending on which you choose. Doesn't sound like a lot, but in the grand scheme of rifle weight it is quite a bit

It’s a tough call, I keep going back and forth. I would like the 34mm tube and the quality of glass on the ATACR. I’m probably going to go back and forth between the two for a month before I decide.

I ended up going with the NX8 4-32x50 F1. So far, I love it but only have one range trip with it.

Still waiting on the Whidden dies, probably another month or two for those.

Do you have the full weight of the rifle with scope? Curious what it came in at for you.

I’m still fire forming right now, but this is the target from last weekend at the range. I jerked the trigger real bad on that one to the right so I left myself a love letter to see through that crystal clear NX8 glass.

This is all Peterson 280 Rem brass with 150 gr Sierra game changers, I think there is about 59 grains of RL26 in these rounds, I was dropping charges direct from the powder measure so no real consistency in charges like I will from my FX120i. There are 3-4 shots just left of center, those were all cold bore shots. I’m excited to see what happens after I go through load development with the VLDs and fire formed cases!

Edit- this is at 100 yds so nothing ground breaking. Also, there is a Diamond in the group from where the guy next to me thought nobody was using this target and started putting stickers over my target.

That is one sweet setup.

Superficial but you’d think Alamo would have a cleaner bdl inlet on a packaged setup like that.

Funny you say that, I went back and forth on going with their bottom metal or converting to a custom and using a Hawkins M5 Oberndorf. I obviously stuck with the standard offering, in the end it wasn't a very big deal to me. I honestly don't even know if I needed the wyatt's box, that thing is massive.

Called Whidden today on the status of my die order only to learn that they are seriously backed up, only about a quarter of the way through December orders and my dies were a mid January order so they haven't even started on them yet. A little frustrating as I paid them in full 3 months ago. Is what it is and now that I didn't draw in Montana this year I am not in as big of a hurry to get this rifle dialed in.

Any updates on how that is shooting? I have an APR Altitude 30 Nosler build in right now that I am looking forward to getting!
