Last week my Bergara 300wm hunter came in. Yesterday I ordered myself a Leopold 5hd 3-15x44, and badger rings and base.

In hospital right now. First baby came fine this morning.

Have a pilot tentatively on the books for Alaska 2021. Trying to get some of this money spent before the better half realizes the financial commitment.

A new baby, new rifle, and a booked hunt. Congrats 3 times.

My moose rifle wears the same scope and I really enjoy it.

Thanks, buddy!

Scope decision was tough. Looked at an entry level nightforce, high end vortex, a mid grade Zeiss and one Swarovski.

Kept coming back to the 5HD. 6hd quality at a lower price and fewer of the gadgets. That plus specs, reviews and price was more than I could take. All the other scopes seemed to have at least one drawback that was pretty much universally accepted. While the Leupold doednt appear to dominate every aspect of good field scope, I don't think it's substantially lacking in ANY.

Time will tell. I've had a VXIII 3.5-10 * 50 on a 270wsm for 15 years and have never had a problem.

I almost bought a Bergara 300 win for my hunt as well. Let me know how you like it

Congrats to both you and your wife on your new addition to the family, that’s a great caliber for sure! But seriously, are you sure that’s your kid?

Really though, congratulations to you guys and your beautiful, healthy baby, and I wish you the best of luck on your Alaskan adventure as well.

Nothing hard mounted yet, but so far I like the set up. Optics planet was out if badger rail with lugs. Went with Talley and no lugs. Zero need for bedding. Balance a bit fwd, maybe, but not bad.

Eye box and relief on scope is bad ass. So far not super impressed with clarity and color in SUPER bright and humid conditions. To be expected, but my ol vx-iii is about the same looking off porch.

Can't wait to tighten things up and go shoot.
