Yes another arrow thread.

Just picked up a new Rx7 Ultra, 68 lbs, 28" draw. Would like suggestions on a new elk hunting arrow, especially from those that shoot or have tuned the Ultra. Currently shooting 340 FMJs @ 27.75 and no problem with them, just looking at options to potentially lighten up, increase speed and FOC. Ultimately would like to be around 450-475 with 14% FOC @ 260. Looking at 5mm Axis, but seem to fall in between the 340 and 300. Thanks.

Lots of ways to skin this cat. 5mm Axis 340 cut to 27.5" with 150 gr head, 16 gr aluminum HIT, three 7 gr vanes, and a 9 gr nock comes out to 457 gr TAW with near perfect spine according to qSpine.

With that bow, and your DL, you're going to have to be sub 450, closer to 425 I would bet for you to hit 260. Going to be tight getting it with 475 @ 68 @ 28

I would go either a victory rip tko 350 or sirius apollo 350, both very durable arrows, cut to 27.5" with ethics new hit 25 grain aluminum insert and 40 grain stainless collars, 100 grain broadhead.

I have the same draw weight and draw length including rx7 ultra as you. I also wanted to build an elk arrow that shoots 270fps. I chose a black eagle x impact 300 spine cut to 27in. With aluminum outsert and steel collar from ethics cut down so it weighs 100grains. With a 100grain broadhead I went with iron will single bevel, grim reaper micro hades pros, qad exodus. This will put you at a total arrow weight of 450grains shooting exactly 270fps. And the arrow tunes great. Foc close to 18%.

I shot easton axis and FMJ for years with great success. Might end up back there someday. Tough to beat!
I was in a similar boat to you wanting to try something new though though and gain a little speed. I’m at 30.5” draw 70#. Ended up going RIP TKO 300 with 50 grains of brass up front and an iron will collar (10grains titanium). Happy with it so far. Easy to get to fly true.
I bought the bloodsports justice for my wife to try something new and they are very similar to axis but I found them for a lot cheaper. Been happy with those too so far but specs/speeds will be similar to axis. The RIP TKO is what will allow you to gain some speed. IMO

Gold Tip Airstrike's. Low GPI and higher FOC arrow. That's what I'm sending out of my RX7 Ultra anyway.
