I consider myself lucky that I found this MG Arms built Banshee Classic (Rem M700 action) in 340 Wby. It wore a Leupold Vari-X 3-9x40 in Leupold standard (3 screw) base and rings.

Current specs:
Barrel 26" with radial brake
Murphy Precision 0MOA Titanium picatinny base
Spuhr 30mm rings
Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 30mm wind-plex

Shoots a 1/2 at 100yds with 225 TSX at 2980.

Yes, even with the brake, recoil is stout.

I think I will take it to AK this year instead of the 6.5 PRC (did I just hurt somebody's feelings... J/K)

It's always so exciting getting a new rifle, especially one that shoots.

I think you will enjoy your new rifle. The .340Wea is my favorite all time big game round. I settled on the 250gr Nosler Partition and never looked back. Both Wea factory ammo or reloads using MRP were 100yd 1” groups all day long.It was my go to round for elk on up for twenty years. I’ve never had to do a tracking job with the .340Wea. Have owned two great .340 Wea. One one was a Gene Simillion Legend glass stock Mod 70 .My favorite rifle was a heavy Dakota Safari 25” barrel , 10 1/2 lbs with a S&B 1.5-6X42MM. The stock fit me pretty well although the grip was to small diameter wise and you would need to focus on not letting the gun twist in your grip hand.Had friends with factory Weatherby factory .340 Accumarks that were very accurate and reliable rifles. Recently got banged up so the.340‘s are sold and now using lighter recoil & weight rifles a 30.06 & .300H&H. Hope for getting back to selectively shooting my .416 Rigby and some larger caliber rifles at some point.
How much does your rifle weigh scoped?

Ready to hunt weight is just over 10lbs.
That's scoped, sling, stock pouch, and 3 cartridges.

Jake-
10lbs about right. The .340 for me is not a mtn rifle cartridge .

I have seen the 250 grain partitions hit an elk. It was impressive to say the least. Love the caliber but the recoil was a bit much for me to shoot accurately so have never owned one myself. 10 rounds at the range had me flinching pretty bad to the point I struggled to hold 2" groups at 100.

I have two 340s they are IMO the best all around caliber there is for North America. You are going to enjoy your new toy!

What is your go-to load?

For whitetails both the 200 grn Accubond and the 210 grn Partition are really amazing. Since that is what 90% of my hunting is the 200 accubond would be my go to. For Elk the 225 TSX is in my opinion the way to go.

So....
The recoil is intense, even with a brake.

Zeroed a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 CDS-ZL at 100 yards, dialed to 400 and first found hit on 4" steel gong... second round miss... third round miss...

The recoil actually spun the turret due to the small amount of mass (from the zero lock button) so that the button was in line with the barrel and I was shooting over the gong.

Got mad... bought Nightforce...

Should be G2G.

Congratulations on that rifle. That one seems to be accurate and definitely potent.
I have always liked the 340 WBY cartridge. I just have never taken the plunge to have one put together. Though, I bought a donor rifle with that specific purpose. Maybe one day.
The 225 TSX group very well in my 338 Winchester. And were instantly devastating on a moose at about 150 yards. The TTSX version has also grouped very well in a few 338 Winchesters that I have shot it in.
Good luck on your hunt.
