Newbies first post. Elk caliber question.

This is good advice above. Don't worry about what we all think. Just go with what you got. My first 4 bull elk I killed with a 25-06. I was 18 to 26 and didn't have much money much less extra rifles on hand. I had one deer rifle. I shot 120 grain Partition's at 3030 fps. Shortest was 130 yds, furthest was 350ish. One shot was all I needed for each elk because the rifle was extremely accurate. I shot only broadside shots and actually broke the necks at the shoulder on 2 of those bulls. Dead right on the spot. 308 is great and the 270 with 150 grain Partition's has taken piles of elk. Go for it! Enjoy it! Worry more about weather and your boots. The rifles you own will do their job if you do yours. Good luck!

Being proficient with your rifle setup and being able to make accurate shots time and time again I think is the most important thing when hunting. I like my Nosler AB but any modern rifle bullet is capable knocking down elk but just need to practice and be proficient with each gun.
