Newfoundland Moose Hunt - DADG Outfitters

I am considering a moose hunt in Newfoundland and am looking at outfitters. I am focused mostly on a fly-in hunt.

I know this topic has been covered in great detail and the information has been really helpful.

That being said, I have not seen much written about DADG Outfitters (although what I have seen looked good).

Does anyone have any experience with this particular outfitter?

Fantastic operation. Killed a giant bull day 1 of the last week at there trophy camp. They do not over hunt the areas. Dean, Amanda and the guides are great people. It's not luxury by all means but very remote and fantastic moose country with alot of animals and good food. If you hunt the trophy camp ask for Shane to guide you. He knew exactly where to find my big bulls and had me pass a high 30s bull 15 minutes in for mine. They also do a great job woth meat care and the butcher they use is great. The meat is unbelievably good

Two of us hunted a fly in hunt with Dean in 2021 with archery gear. We each killed 41" bulls the first and 2nd day. Lots of moose. One of the guides was a great guy but had never guided an archery hunter previously. Not sure the other guide had ever guided ANY hunter. But it worked!

Had a friend go recently, he did his research. Had trouble with the travel process and airlines giving the wrong info about the correct paperwork needed for firearms into and out of Canada.

Lots of additional cost with getting the mounts and meat home.

The group had a successful hunt and tagged out. Minus the extra cost of things the group of 5 that went were able to split the cost and it worked out in the end.....

I would think that would be a no brainer that it's going to cost extra to get meat and horns back home. I believe the butcher fee for my bull was around $800 and shipping the meat and horns was around $900

Yeah, they asked the right questions. They were told the company used transports meat all over the US, it was a non issues and they left it at that.

However details were left out like their meat and mounts would only make it as far as Oklahoma. The company didnt ship further west than that. They had to hire out a hot shot trucking company to deliver it to the Oregon coast.

Lots of things alone those lines as a example that chalked up to being more annoying than the money.

Lost of missing conflicting information between the airlines, TSA, Canada and US customs with firearms travel causing missing flights. They planned on a hole day plus for travel issues and almost didnt make it to Newfoundland hunt camp in time, as there are not many flights into that area.

Can't say enough good things about them. That is Shane (guide) in the picture posted above. He will definitely find moose. Very courteous and thoughtful. I shot a 49.5 inch bull the first morning. Primitive but comfortable accommodations. You may have to trek quite a ways to get a shot and the terrain can be tricky so be in shape
