Nikon Monarch Binos (pre 3,5,7)

I have the opportunity to pick up a pair of older Nikon Monarch 10x42 binos that are pre monarch 3, 5, 7 etc. I was wondering if anyone has any past experience with this model and what your thoughts may be on quality. I have had them for a week to try out and so far are better than any bino I have had in the past (vortex Diamondback, bushnell etc). I would be getting the pair from a friend who has recently upgraded and would like to come up with a fair price comparison.

They are at least 5 years old, probably more. You'll have no warranty under Nikons new warranty policy as you are not the original owner and have no reciept. With that said, they are a nice glass and $150.00 would probably be a fair price as they were probably $289 new
