Has anyone gotten their hands on a P1000 yet? I've got a P900 that I've been playing with for a year, its fun to play with but its a bridge camera and it is what it is. I'll probably be content to play with it for quite awhile yet but the 125x optical zoom and 4k video is entertaining and I'm wondering if anyone has gotten ahold of one yet and has any comparison notes between to 2. I've been watching some reviews on youtube and it sounds like some of the limitations that the P900 has are definitely still present in the P1000 and I'm wondering if the additional magnification vs the same sensor size exaggerates those limitations or if the P1000 has an increased capability over the P900. From my personal experience the pics on the P900 will let you see what's out there at max zoom but the quality definitely falls off after about 2/3 of the magnification spectrum. I've attached some pics of what I feel is representative of my experience with full zoom, they are unedited and straight off the camera, there are probably ways to get better results and under better conditions but as an amateur just playing in around this is what I'm seeing. I've also attached a pic from My D3400 with 70-300mm Nikon Lense as a comparison
If your finding ways to achieve some results with one of these maybe kick some suggestions in as well. I'm still trying to figure out how to run stuff in manual but I haven't gotten confident in that and am using the preset modes of the camera.

Slightly different conditions, slightly better results. I think I ranged her at 300 yards.

Both the 900 and 1000 will take similar quality pictures. The limits are set by the size of the sensor. The DSLR you have has a sensor that is substantially larger and will yield far better images.
Because the sensor in both the 900 and1000 are so small you get the huge optical zoom. Big Benefit. The problem is the small sensor will not give you the optimum image
Only real advantage of the P1000 is the 4k video. . Keep in mind the camera is HUGE and HEAVY!!!

Feel free to contact me with any other questions as we sell all of the Nikons
