NM - the good, the bad and the ugly

I start to get frustrated when I see all the post on here and other forums of “never hunted elk, first time applying and I drew the Gila”. Especially since I put in for almost every species and didn’t draw a thing again, six years in a row. I hunted NM many years when I was a resident but since changing my residency 6 years ago I have yet to draw a tag. Granted I put in for some of the harder to draw units.
Then I remind myself that being able to draw each and every year is what I like about NM. It is nice to have a couple states out there where luck matters and points do not even if I have no luck. Congrats to all those who drew a NM big game tag and enjoy your hunts.

It is great that everyone has the same odds every year. It took me 13 yrs to draw my first NR Gila tag for Rifle.
Then I drew twice in the next 5 yrs in 16D. Go figure.
