NM unit 2 cow elk

I was able to purchase a couple cow elk tags for BGU 2 in NM. Dates are December 12-16. I have hunted bull elk in Unit 36 but never have been to unit 2.

This will be my sons first elk hunt and I won't have time to scout much before hand, maybe just the day before. We aren't planning on camping so I would like a recommendation on where to stay. Also if anyone is able to give me some general advise about the unit I would appreciate it. I know I have given people help in the past about unit 36. Feel free to PM me any info that you don't want on the internet.



Basically any advise is appreciated, I really haven't spent much time in that part of NM.

Google earth,find water. Couple cows should be easy. Very dry there this year. Took me 2 wks to find water with almost 70 miles on my boots during second bow season. Slam dunk when I did.

I’m not any help whatsoever other than to say that here in AZ we are incredibly dry so IF you can find a water source there are a lot of animals on it.
