Hello guys. My daughter was lucky enough to draw a youth rifle hunt for this unit.

Does anyone understand how NMG&F is handling the pronghorn rifle hunts? They used to assign you to a ranch but now you can hunt public and on private ranches that have a ranch wide agreement. How do you find out which ranches have an agreement?

Also has anyone hunted this unit? What kind of trophy potential is realistic for this unit? Is there an area within this unit that produces better quality bucks? Any information would be greatly appreciated?

Congrats to your daughter!!

They changed all of that this year. You will not be assigned a ranch. You'll be limited to public lands you can access via public roads, ie county roads. Good thing for the early hunt is I don't think there are too many tags, maybe 20 total.

NE NM has good numbers but doesn't grow the biggest trophy's in the state. I think you'll still have a great opportunity at a nice goat.

I'll be in 59 just south of you.
