Anyone ever tried it before? It’s a three month season it’s hard to even decide when to go.

Later in season bucks will drop their horns, say by late Oct into Nov.
Some hold til later in Nov but you can just pull them right off in the field.

The late season (November 1 to Jan 31st) is a doe/fawn only hunt, so don’t have to worry about horns really. Just black cheek patches... Plenty of ground to cover. I would think the later you plan to go the more likely your access will be limited by snow. So weather dependent you may need a set of cross country skis.

There's limited number of tags available that are offered to Resident's first. And they've always sold out to residents.

The area isn’t the whole North Sioux rifle unit, it’s a stretch of highway 20 from Chadron to Crawford and you can hunt 6 miles on each side. Plenty of lopes, you just have to ask permission since it’s mostly private.

I’ve done the Regular rifle season Twice with success both times. Decent amount of goats. Hoping to connect on one in the grasslands with the bow early next month
