Notifications/ Alerts

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but...

Is there a way to set an alert based on something you're interested in, not just a thread or member? For example, set an alert that any time someone posts about 300wm you get a notification or if someone posts something about a particular brand you're interested in, you get a notification?

I did a search and didn't find an answer. If there is something already, just point me in that direction.
