NV Optics Rental Advice

Told my old man I would rent some NV for his birthday weekend to go out for coyotes this year. I was thinking a thermal bino/rangefinder handheld and a PVS-30 type clip on for a Vortex 5.5-27. Does anyone have any experience predator hunting with NV/Thermal that can let me know if this is a solid plan? Since it's only a short rental, I don't want to dismount and remount an optic to go with a night-only scope, that's why I want to stick with my day optic if possible.
