Off Grid Maps with Laptop/Chromebook

Planning on using a base camp on elk hunt which would allow us to bring my chromebook with onx off grid maps. Does anyone have experience saving off grid maps to this type of device? I’ve had no luck getting the app version on the device but it seems possible if Google searches are to be trusted...
