Is it ok to dry fire a Rem 700 SPS with the Pro “adjustable” trigger?
I’ve been using once fired cases and I’m getting readings from my Lyman trigger pull gauge all over the place with a 1 lb variant. I’ve noticed that with some cases it’s harder to close the bolt. Would that affect the trigger pull? I put in one of Ernie the Gunsmths trigger springs For the 700. Not sure if I’m trying to make a silk purse out of a cows ear or not.

Dry fire away.

Yes, you are trying to make too much with just a spring swap in a factory trigger.

A Triggertech Special or Timney will make a massive improvement and is a simple swap down to a pound. Even a Triggertech primary at the 1.5 minimum feels so much better than even a worked over factory trigger.
