As I understand, onX will NOT work on a non-cell WiFi ONLY iPad Pro.

What if I connect this iPad to an iPhone 11 hotspot?
Would onX work then?
Has anyone performed this before?

Thanks.

onX support says it would not be guaranteed, it is not the same as a GPS equipped cellular iPad.
Internet data would be passed, but no guarantee that the GPS data would be passed.

I asked if an external GPS unit connected to the iPad would work...

Wow,

onX support is really good.

I will try an external unit with my iPad Pro and report back...

"While we do not have any external GPS devices to test at our office,
we have heard of some success with this option. We can't guarantee compatibility, but
in theory if the device displays location information on your iPad across all apps,
it should work to show location information in our App products as well. We would
recommend reaching out to the manufacturer for those external GPS devices to check
about their compatibility with Apps to ensure it is something that would work for
what you are trying to use it for."

OnX support rocks.

I work in IT so I have half a dozen tablets in my office. I have OnX on several non cellular devices and I can download the maps and they work fine. Used an iPad in ariplane mode this past elk season for bascamp mapping.
