OnX battery issues

Anybody else have problems with their battery life when using OnX tracker?

My phone battery lasts maybe 8-10 hours when I turn the tracker on even while in low power mode and airplane mode. Usually my phone battery lasts 24 hours. I have a Google pixel 6 but also had this issue on my previous phone.

I've been dealing with this for about a year now but I am over it. I like OnX but this issue alone is enough for me to consider other map services.

Can I fix this issue? What map services do not affect battery life?

If you're tracking yourself the whole time that phone's doing a good bit of work, lower battery life is to be expected. If it's a big deal you may try just setting some waypoints at important areas (creek crossings, etc) instead of laying a whole track down.

Doesn't surprise me. I can't even get the tracking to work properly but when I have it sucks down the battery. I don't think it is an OnX issue. I don't think cell phones are well suited to be dropping points for a track and preserving battery. I still use my GPS unit for tracking.

Never use the tracking for this reason.
