So I’ve got an older Mercury outboard that ran fine last year, but I went to crank it up today and when I pump the bulb gas just shoots out of the connection, none is going into the motor. I was thinking about just changing the connectors. I guess my question is, should I just replace the hole thing? I can’t for the life of me figure out what the hell happened over the winter. If anybody has any thoughts that would be great.

Probably just a cracked o-ring in the connector. Seems like I change them on my outboards every few years if I don't pay attention to getting non-ethanol gas.

Just replace the connector and you should be good to go.
