Tradition in PA is to drive with a group for bears. Any one ever have success out solo? If so, how'd it play out for you? Treestand?

My group of hunters has had success hunting PA bears somewhat solo. Our group does not drive for bears. We find food and location of them and everyone goes to that area. The area is anywhere from 1 sq mile to a couple hundred yards. Everyone is sitting or slowly walking a general area. All public land. This pst year (2018) we cut tracks on 7 different bears. The snow helped a lot. Two guys saw 1 bear a piece with one guy getting 1 shot. No tree stand hunting. Normally about 5-12 bear hunters every year.

Haven’t gotten one myself. Talked to a few guys who have. Seems a lot of them identify den sites and sit on them.

If you are going to treestand hunt for bears in PA it is much better to be lucky than good.

I did get lucky a few years ago walking out from my treestand mid afternoon.
