I hunt mostly 4B. Combination of Private land, game lands and state forests. Sometimes I venture into 5A. Just got back from a 3 day trip in the state forest and didn’t see a deer. Also hardly any shots heard. Thursday and Friday was pretty windy but this morning was clear and calm.

I got this 9 point on Thursday evening. I was sitting in the Shanty overlooking the winter wheat field. Earlier in the afternoon, I heard a group of deer running in the woods above the field. I saw some small bucks and 4 doe walking down towards the field edge. They bedded in a grove of cedars. About 4:40, I saw 2 doe move down into the field. I glassed them until I heard movement to the right. 5 doe and 2 small buck entered the field. I looked them over hoping 1 buck would have the required 3 point but no luck. Then I glanced back to the first 2 deer that entered the field and saw another deer had joined them. A quick look through the spotting scope confirmed it was a legal buck. I quickly range it at 265 yards. I settled the crosshairs for a high shoulder shot and sent the 150 gr Etip from my 7mm mag. He dropped in his tracks. I was thankful that I didn't need to track him across the hills. I am having a heart cath after Christmas so I didn't need a difficult drag.

I got a 8 pt on the Sunday of rifle on state game lands in McKean county. I quartered in the woods and packed it out for the 1st time. We closed our camp this Sunday until trout season 2022. Hope everyone was successful

This year was odd for my son and I. We weren't seeing many deer. I think it was from a lot of corn still being up. I missed a big 10pt on Sunday evening. Hit a sapling. Pretty frustrating to see a 1 inch sapling slowly fall over as your deer running off. The first Friday a farm i hunt took the corn down. Got 2 doe that night and my son got a nice old Spike. That was the extent to our season.

I saw one doe last evening to close out my 2021 rifle season. I spent a few hours this afternoon scouting around and putting cameras up to see if any buck are left for me to chase during late archery.

Took this 9-point last Friday around 1PM in WMU 1A. I kicked up some deer walking around Wednesday but had no visibility so I went the opposite direction on Friday and saw this guy with another 2-point spike. Wouldn't give me a shoulder view so I shot him in the neck, then a bigger buck and the 2-point took off.
