1st you're just gonna have to get over the cost. It is what it is and the upgrade is worth it. Sure it's hard to pry from your wallet. But just look around for old gear, truck parts, tools you never use and sell them off that way its a money trade.
I'd say since SG is rite there that should be high on the list.
Kifaru and Exo are great as well.
Something else that I think would be beneficial is to go see a physical therapist. See what they can do to reduce your pain, and teach you how to strengthen your back/muscles around. They may help more then anything.
