Good info here....zap thanks for posting links to those articles. Answered some questions I had as I program my own workouts with strong ruck performance being my main goal.

Get out and carry a heavy load! And show the next generation how to do it.

The weighted pack is going to help get your legs in shape. The hard part is getting your lungs in shape. I live at 600 feet of elevation. Going to 10,500 - 11,000 of elevation... it is hard to prepare for that.

Keep at the weighted pack, you won't be sorry.

Legs are harder for me. A week long hunt is a grind. Live at 300'. Finished backcountry hunt recently with spike camp at 10,200'. Lungs were fine. Legs were wore out. Sure I would get winded occasionally climbing ridges but I would recover quickly. Work out 4 days per week weights and cardio. 49 years old.

I've had folks say running goes to prepare you for altitude but it worked for me, at least in the 10,000-10,400 foot range.

One day WILL def help, and suffice until you get closer to hunting season.

Once you are 4-6 weeks out I'd suggest dropping one of your other sessions to specifically train for the hunt and hit that twice a week.
