Last summer, 2021, on a short training hike. Narrow water crossings were interesting. He thought that he needed to jump them with lot

s of clearance to spare. I finally walked him up and down through a creek to get him more familiar with water. This was just after a good shearing.

I finally took the time to find Tina (Momma) a new home with a herd of sheep. I don't know why I fed her as long as I did. I've kept Marco. While Pedro isn't a huge llama, it appears that Marco won't be as big as Pedro. I'm keeping him anyway to give Pedro company. I'll still try to eventually use him.

I'll be taking Pedro on a hike in a couple weeks. We'll likely stake him out beside our camper trailer and do some day hiking with him.

Just a thought if you're taking a single llama hiking most are going to be so stressed to be separated from any kind of herd they're probably not going to do all that great

Pedro is my only llama now. I got rid of his momma and I had to put Marco down last week. Marco was fine on Thursday evening but I woke up Friday to find him laying on his side not able to get up and barely willing to move. What I could see was rectal prolapse but I'm assuming it was a result of something going on inside of him considering the amount he started to bloat after a couple of hours. I decided I wasn't going to watch him suffer and took care of matters.

Pedro seems to enjoy the trail and like the company.

Pedro hasn't been sheered since 21. When the neighbors had their alpacas sheered yesterday, I took Pedro around and had him sheered. I should have asked them to not go so close. Poor guy looks like an anorexic giraffe. :)

These guys are efficient as heck

Pedro whaled like a banshee :). He's probably a lot cooler. I'll have him in the mountains again soon.

We had a Old English sheep dog that when we had him clipped for the summer months, he acted embarrassed and looked like a grey hound, good luck with your lama.
