Man you guys have some wild bucks on here, much respect. Really wish Virginia had these kind of opportunities- we have relatively little public land here, and the dog hunters bring the quality and age class of deer on it so far down as to make hunting it not even worthwhile. Sweet pics thought, and congrats to the guys who got it done!
Your hunting in the wrong part of Virginia if u think we have little public land and no opportunity for bucks like this

Here is one I recently had on my cam on a big chunk of public in northeast PA. He was across a small food plot so had to zoom in a bunch to see his frame so quality is poor but he looks to be a good one!

Have a few pics from around my place. Backs up to a pretty treacherous state park. First time in my life the only limit to my hunting is me. It’s odd seeing the deer around your yard then chasing them up and down cliffs. Full disclosure, the 14 I had pics of in the summer I didn’t lay eyes on in the season. Work pulled me across the US during the rut and coming home I hiked in deep pushing him up the cliffs to a party. A woman in the party luckily got him. I lost a archery buck to a bear and chased it until dark ending up in a steep thick ravine with no light and a pocket knife. That’s a longer story. Bears here get a little large.

I’m planning to bow hunt western PA this fall since I’m gonna be there for work. Does the West Alexander area get a lot of hunting pressure?

Technically not public land* but I hunt just down the road from state game lands. This guy could have easily been cruising through public land. 4B.

Some damn nice bucks here. I guess I need to change which sections of game lands I hunt. Tired of seeing tiny scrappers and nothing worth shooting all the time.

In my experience there is no reason why you shouldn’t get a shot or two at a 115 plus bucks in pa most years. I would be willing to bet you wouldn’t have to go far to find them.

I hunt the big woods in the northern tier so the advantage is plenty of space to spread out but negative is low deer density so if you don’t scout well you can go a long time without seeing deer.

Now as I say that I haven’t seen one buck this year that has got me excited but I know they are there. I have the next week off to make something happen.

I believe it. The biggest part of my problem is that I'm in my mid 30s with kids and have a VERY important job. You could imagine how little time I get to spend in the woods. I usually take off for a week of rifle and go at it HARD. Don't own any hunting land of my own and I don't have any permission to hunt any other private land. Don't have time to scout or set up cameras anywhere. But my true passion has been and always will be BIG whitetail bucks. If I kill one, it's going to take a TON of luck.

Life.

Yes, that makes it extremely hard. Most of my 'big' mountain bucks have come from one thing. Having plenty of time to spend in the woods. So if I was in your shoes I would be firing at the first legal thing lol

Here is my 2021 buck. Took off a few days last week for my Rutcation! He was the smallest buck I seen but when he ran to my mock scrape at 15 yards. I couldn't pass the opportunity. About 1.5 miles from the truck on top of the mountain. Quartered him on the spot and my wife and I packed him out .

I didn’t tag out in 21 but was “on” a lot of nice mountain bucks throughout the season just didn’t come together for me. I’m pretty stocked for the fall though! I believe the deer I was after and saw dogging doe on Nov 10th is alive and even gnarlier this year! Hard horned pic is last year on 11/15. Velvet pic is from 7/10
