This will be my first year backpack hunting so I knew I needed to get a better pair of boots than the Under Armour Speed Freeks I've been using in the past. I didn't want to go to something really hardcore like a Lowa Tibet or the like so after trying on as many brands as I could find locally I decided to go with the Lowa Camino GTX Wide (had to order these online as there aren't too many wides available locally) hopefully this will be a happy medium between what I've been using and the hardcore backpacking boots. I'll start breaking them in on the trail tomorrow and give a review as I get more familiar with them. Their weighing in at around 4.6 pounds per pair which is more than I thought they would be but I wear a 12 wide so that doesn't help any. I also use the Sole insoles which are a little heavier than the standard Lowa insoles so keep that in mind.
