I'm particularly fond of taking pictures of shits in the woods so I'll play.

1st two are the same location about 7-8k ft. in the sierras. I think bear since there are a lot in the area? Size 10.5 boots for reference.

#3 is in the lower foothills of the sierras at about 2-3000 ft. No idea what it is since not many bear there and it's so big. Thumb is right next to the shit even though it looks like it's far above.

2” diameter I’m thinking bear. I see lot of it in the Sierras and raccoon is usually smaller. Edit that’s for the OP.

For post #24 I’ve never seen that much grass in bear shit. the texture kinda looks like horse but the shape seems like bear.

Boot? How about something bigger for comparison. But to be different I vote domestic dog on the first one since no plant matter, and something that is more omnivorous on the second.

Do coyotes take deer down? I'm trying to figure out what's taking them down. On this deer, it appears to have started in one corner where there's a bunch of hair scattered around, then the takedown about 50 feet away where the bricks are knocked all over the place and looks like a crime scene. When I found it, it was pretty well eaten and only the head was missing. Pretty sure it was a doe. Now, pretty much the whole thing has disappeared. The whole area is fenced.

I have been told that finding a headless carcass by a fence, or a head, is generally cat. They drag it by the throat often times, eventually the head comes off.

Here in the east our coyotes on occasion can kill deer, generally when they are run down from something else. Our deer are smaller and coyotes are bigger. I highly doubt it would happen with a Western coyote and a mule deer, unless the deer was already injured.

Also bear crossing fence is normally pretty obvious, think fat guy crossing a fence.
