Portable Heaters

I am from Florida and have started deer hunting in SD. Turns out my pheasant gear is no way near adequate for sitting in a deer blind tent at 10 degrees.

I have read all the cold weather gear threads and am investing in new gear for this years trip.

Is there any drawback from using a portable heater in a deer tent, outside of risk of fire on dry grass and a flammable tent.

Would it put off an oder, worse than me, that may scare off a deer

Wouldn’t worry about it. We have run heaters for the kids in portable blinds often. Never seen any effects. Much better having a warm blind than listening to the kids gripping after an hour.

Stomp down or remove the dry grass. Start the heater and let it run for a minute or two to warm up before you leave the truck and then turn it off for the walk to your blind. This way when u get to your blind the heater will light on the first try with less noise. And if u bring kids they can roast marshmallows.

We've used the Coleman catalytic heaters sometimes in our blinds and they work well to keep the chill off.

We use the buddy heaters and haven’t noticed anything spooking because of them
