I noticed a buddy’s truck had a Doppler radar screen with weather forecasts which worked outside of cell coverage, and I looked into it and apparently there is a free to use satellite broadcast of weather conditions. All of the actual receiver devices I can find are designed to be used installed in planes or boats, but I’m wondering if there’s a pocket sized satellite receiver which has a Doppler map and forecasts anyone is aware of. I found one that plugs into an iPad but it seemed like the data was pilot specific and then I’d have to carry around an iPad. I can get weather forecasts on my In Reach but there is no radar map. Does what I’m looking for exist?
