Something I learned the hard way- I tried out some bags at home when the weather was cold to test their rating. I was really impressed with how they performed, but I was well fed, rested, dry, and had been in a warm house earlier. I took the same bag hunting and froze my butt off at the same temps I had tested at home. because of this I always take a warmer bag or quilt than I think, it's a priority item for me. I'll carry 4 oz more to be warm, it keeps me out there longer. good luck in your search

Thank you everyone for the replies and insights. I went with a 15* Synthetic (as I am in Ohio, and it can be wet here) paired with a R4.5 pad. I am hoping I can "boost" warmth if needed with a liner, puffy pants/jacket...or, if I'm still not comfortable, maybe it's a good excuse to get a Kifaru woobie to ad to the system.

Again, Thank you everyone for the input
